SAFE VOICE

A VOICE ANALYTICS RISK ASSESSMENT TOOL

The BIU is moving into Phase 2 of its voice analytics project: a new step in using AI responsibly to keep Biathlon fair and transparent.

What is Safe Voice?

It is an automated phone questionnaire that requires you to provide “yes” or “no” answers only.

How long will it take?

It will take no longer than 10 minutes.

How does it work?

You will be given a phone number to call, insert a code that we’ll provide you and then you will be asked 10 questions. 4 of the questions are relevant to biathlon, the other 6 are random.

The questionnaire uses voice analytics technology to provide a risk level based on your vocal responses.

 Why have I been selected?

You have been selected as part of a random process involving all athletes. You will be asked to voluntarily undertake this process during the forthcoming tournaments and/or online via a Teams link.

Is it a polygraph / lie detector test?

No. The purpose of the questionnaire is to identify and measure risk in relation to doping. It works purely on your vocal responses to the questions, and unlike a polygraph / lie detector test it is a non-invasive process.

Can I refuse? / What happens if I refuse?

Your participation is voluntary, however, your refusal (and your reason for doing so) will be documented. We encourage you to participate as the process has been designed to protect clean athletes and reduce the requirements to undergo invasive blood and urine testing.

I’m feeling tired / anxious / unwell. Will this affect my results?

No. Feeling, tired, anxious, or unwell will does not affect your ability to participate in the questionnaire, and it will not impact your results.

What happens after I have completed the questionnaire?

Your responses will be analysed, and you will be notified if we need to speak to you further regarding the answers you have provided. The results of this questionnaire will not impact your ability to compete.

Can I speak to you in confidence?

Yes, you can do so after completing the test or we can arrange a confidential meeting at a later date and time.
